Welcome to Christmas home tour day! Today I’m being joined by eight other home decor bloggers for our Merry and Bright Christmas Home Tour blog hop. We are so excited to be welcoming you into our festive homes!
If you’re hopping on over from Create Pray Love, welcome! I’m Darlene, home decor DIYer and watercolour artist. I live with my DIY hubby (helper behind the scenes) and two creative, energetic children (E is 8 and B is 4). On any given day, we are crafting, painting, styling and creating our own unique messes. Our newly built home on the Canadian prairies was inspired by east coast farmhouse style.
The kitchen is the hub of our home, so I wanted to create a warm, inviting, yet vintage chic vibe to the room for this Christmas home tour. I love to mix vintage pieces such as the silver tea tray or canning jars with whimsical pieces like the gingham and pops of candy red. White milk glass, silver sparkle and a touch of glitter finish off this look.
Snag this cozy inspiring “Enjoy the Little Things” 11oz mug in the shop.
For this Christmas home tour, “Frosty but Fun” (like our winters) is this kitchen’s motto.
I love to add a touch of hand lettering to every room, like this chalkboard tray DIY. You can find the tutorial at “2 Step Chalk Board Sign“
This eucalyptus wreath was a quick DIY with floral wire and an embroidery hoop.
DINING ROOM
There’s always room for one more at our table. Candles give this pretty table setting just the right touch of warmth. For that touch of whimsy, add a sprig of eucalyptus (left over from the two wreaths that were made) to the place cards with a small craft sized clothes pin.If you like this name tag, download the wreath and tree versions for free from the FREE PRINTABLES Page and use as a name tag, gift tag, banner display, or tree ornament.
The popcorn and rose hip garland dates back to our first Christmas twenty years ago as does the pattern for the recreated handmade bird ornament.
I hope you have enjoyed this whimsical vintage tour of our home for this year. Head on over to my friend Kristen’s at Maison Mass to see her beautiful home. And don’t forget to check out all of the other talented bloggers who are participating in this year’s Merry and Bright Christmas Home Tour:
