So, what did you do on your vacation this summer? Did you rest, relax and unwind or did you come up with some creative plans for you and your home for the fall? I ended up doing both, and I’m coming at you today with a custom Farmhouse decor DIY that I did while on vacation.
I think I have found an even easier way to transfer DIY lettering to wood. Basically, it’s just a press through method using a pencil over paper with lettering printed out or drawn out. If you prefer not to have indentations of the lettering on your wood piece or if you prefer transferring onto canvas, here is my other tutorial called The Easiest Way to Tansfer Lettering to Wood, or if you prefer transferring lettering to canvas check out the process on Quick & Easy DIY Gold Foil Canvas. Both tutorials will assist you with reverse transferring.
Start with a piece of weathered wood, one that you don’t have to do too much work to, maybe just a quick wipe and sanding if there are rough edges. Take your paper and draw out or print out the lettering that you would like to have for your sign.
Once you like your lettering (if you have free handed it), then go over the pencil with marker to create the desired thickness you want it to have.

Tape down the paper on the wood so that it doesn’t move while you are transferring. Press over the lettering with a pencil so that you make an indent where the lettering will be filled in later.
Then, once all the lettering is complete, you will fill in the letters with pencil first and then acrylic craft paint. I used two coats so that it had the desired depth.
You can display your farmhouse decor sign on a table or mantle or dress it up with hooks for a coat room or entry way.
My lovely model is also wearing a fall version of the no pattern kimono from Quick & Easy DIY Kimono blog post a few weeks back.
